We gaan de grens over en rijden naar Ai-Ais. Dat  ligt op de plaats waar de Fish River uitmondt in de Orange River. Vlak bij Ai-Ais bevindt zich de Fish River Canyon, de op een na grootste canyon ter wereld.

Sesriem is a small settlement in the Namib Desert and it is the main access point to the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Sesriem is also known for Sesriem Canyon. It is a natural canyon carved by the Tsauchab river in the local sedimentary rock.

We rijden naar de kust naar Swakopmund.

Het Nationaal Park Etosha in Namibië is een van de grootste natuurparken van zuidelijk Afrika. Al in 1907, na de oorlog tussen de Duitsers en de Herero's, werd het park gesticht.

Etosha bestaat voor een groot deel uit een enorme zoutpan, omgeven door droog bushveld. Kenmerkend voor Etosha zijn de grote hoeveelheden wild die men kan 'spotten', olifanten, zebra's, leeuwen, verschillende soorten antilopen enz. Natuurlijke en aangelegde waterdrinkplaatsen helpen de wildpopulatie te overleven in de droge tijd.

We rijden door Namibië via Windhoek in de richting van Kgalagadi transfrontier park.   

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is a large wildlife preserve and conservation area in southern Africa.

The park straddles the border between South Africa and Botswana.

The total area of the park is 38,000 square kilometres. Kgalagadi means "place of thirst. The park is located largely within the southern Kalahari Desert. The terrain consists of red sand dunes, sparse vegetation, occasional trees, and the dry riverbeds of the Nossob and Auob Rivers. The park has abundant, varied wildlife. It is home to large mammalian predators such as lions, cheetahs, African leopards, and hyenas.

The ǃ’Aukarob formed an almost impenetrable barrier to the interior from Cape Town, and the early adventurers, explorers, hunters, and travelers on the way to the Highveld unanimously denounced it as a frightening place of great heat, great frosts, great floods, and great droughts.  Today, it is still a place of great heat and frosts, and an annual rainfall of between 50 and 250 mm, though on some of the mountains it can be 250 to 500 mm higher than on the plains. However, underground water is found throughout the Karoo, which can be tapped by boreholes, making permanent settlements and sheep farming possible.

Addo Elephant National Park is a diverse wildlife conservation park situated close to Gqeberha in South Africa. The original section of the park was founded in 1931, in order to provide a sanctuary for the eleven remaining elephants in the area. The park has proved to be very successful and currently houses more than 600 elephants and a large number of other mammals.

Tsitsikamma National Park is a multi-dimensional destination with dramatic coastal scenery, reefs, rivers, lush forest and delicate Fynbos. A hiking and water sports paradise, this region forms the top section of the magnificent Garden Route National Park.

In Tsitsikamma National Park, Garden Route, South Africa visitors will see booming breakers of the Indian Ocean relentlessly pound rocky shores, temperate high forest and Fynbos (indigenous plants) rolling down to the sea in an unspoilt verdant carpet. Age old rivers carve their way to the sea and wonderful marine creatures swim along the shore.

Few other reserves offer as complete an outdoor experience as De Hoop – sea, sand dunes, the vlei, a floral sensation of rare fynbos plants, diverse antelope and the Potberg Mountains. Birders observe wading birds on the shores of the vlei while the Potberg Mountains are home to a colony of endangered Cape vultures. Hikers and cyclists have close-up encounters with bontebok, Cape mountain zebra, eland, baboons and ostrich. Activities are diverse and guests choose between various day walks through the rich fynbos plains or along the deserted coastline, or mountain biking along the many gravel roads or scenic game drives.

We rijden  naar Hermanus. 

In Hermanus met de boot het water op om walvissen en dolfijnen te bekijken. 

We blijven in (de buurt van) Stellenbosch. We doen een uitstapje naar een canopy tour.

Deze laatste dag nemen we afscheid en rijden  naar het vliegveld.  We leveren de auto in.  We vliegen in de avond.
